1st Big Island Fringe Festival
Family Art Day

Bare & Core Expression presents a day of art-making on Saturday, April 5 at 11am at Olaa Community Center in Keaau.  This free event is a kick-off event for the 1st Big Island Fringe Festival.  Various arts activities are planned for the Family Art Day, such as flag making, simple instrument making, mask making, drum and music workshop, and improvisation workshop.  The main focus of the event is nurturing one’s artistic self through fun and creative explorations and activities.  Fostering family and community bonding through the joy of art-making is another goal of this event.  If your family is not here, no problem!  Come and create your art ohana at our Family Art Day.

Jesse Seymour will offer an hour-long workshop titled Global Percussion which incorporates African, Afro-Cuban, and Brazilian music and percussion (1-2pm).  Amy Jackson will offer a theater improvisation workshop which explores imagination, creating characters through voice and body work, and theater games (11:30am-12:30pm).  Due to the limited spaces for these workshops, pre-registration is recommended.  Anyone who would like to offer creative activities or workshops or help us out with the event, please contact Bonnie at 333-2730.
